OCEAN FREIGHT FOR INTERNATIONAL MOVES

If you are moving overseas and want to ship your goods via ocean freight, our professional international moving specialists will help plan, schedule and expedite your ocean freight shipment.

Although ocean freight has a longer transit time than air freight, it does offer a safe means of transport at a reasonable cost, making it the preferred method of shipping.

Ocean freight services for international relocations can vary depending on the size of your shipment and the method of transport. Contact us to find out what the best option is for your international move.

Ocean freight consists of three methods of shipping:

Lift vans

When shipping a relatively small amount of household goods such as one or two rooms of furniture, we pack the items into a wooden case or "Iiftvan".

Exclusive Containers

Exclusive containers, which are steel boxes, come in four sizes: 20 foot, 40 foot, 40 foot high-cube, and 45 high-cube. The most commonly used sizes are 20 foot and 40 foot. 20 foot containers hold the equivalent of three to four rooms of furniture (approx. 1000 cubic feet) while 40 foot containers hold the equivalent of four to seven rooms (approximately 2000 cubic feet). The advantage of container shipping is the added safety it provides by shipping your household goods in a steel container.

Containerization limits handling and exposure of your goods, there by reducing possible damage. We seal the container in your presence when possible and ship it to your front door; in most instances, with the same seal intact when the container reaches its final destination

Shared Containers

Aslo known as Groupage Containers and Partial Container Shipments

When you don't have enough goods to fill up your own container, we recommend "groupage containerization." Partial container shipments are an economical solution for shipping overseas. International Sea & Air Shipping has agreements with consolidators that can save your money on your ocean freight shipment.

We pack your goods at your residence and transport them to our warehouse where we consolidate them with other cargo destined for the same area. Groupage containers afford the safety of containerization without the expense of a whole container.

International Moving Sea & Air Shipping has contracts and service agreements with all of the major steamship lines. This allows us to provide competitive Ocean Freight container rates to all foreign seaports.
