Customs Regulations & Requirement to Import Goods into Ireland
The Irish Import Department requires that to brings goods into Irelands under "Transfer of residence" you must have lived outside of the E.U. for a continuous period of one year and must have owned and used the shipped household items and personal effects for more than 6 months prior to shipping.
- A "Transfer of Residence" 1076 form or a Customs Form must be completed with the originals submitted.
- A letter from your employer stating the duration of employment abroad and your transfer of residence on a permanent basis to take up a position within a company in Ireland.
- Proof of residence abroad in the form of two 12 month old (dated) utility bills, bank statements, or credit car statements. One must be dated 12 months prior to the move to Ireland and the other must be within 6 months of the move.
- Proof of sale of residence abroad or copy of rental / lease agreement.
- Evidence that you are taking up residence in Ireland i.e. evidence that you have entered into a letting agreement or have purchased a residence and proof of employment.
Importing a Vehicle - the car must have been owned and used for 6 months prior to shipping in order to bring it VAT and Duty Free.
- Customs form 1076 is required
- The original certificate of Title / Ownership of the car.
- Copy of the purchase invoice
- Copy of the insurance certificate (over 6 months old.
- A VRT4 Form (in duplicate)
- A VRT2 Form
